Margaret Cleveland co-hosts the First Ourselves Show

For me, it began with a search for ‘overeating’ on google.com that led me to FirstOurselves.com.  It took me about one minute to figure out that finally, finally, I had landed in the place that could help me with tackle my issues with overeating and sugar addiction. And it took me less than a minute to commit to last spring’s Kick Your Sugar Habit teleclass where I learned concrete tools for tackling my eating challenges–but even more important, I found an amazing network of supportive and brilliant women.  Karly and I clicked instantly, and happily for me, she began thinking of ways to include me in First Ourselves programs.

I’m going to be co-hosting a radio-style broadcast audio show with Karly. You can listen the First Ourselves Show as an MP3 format podcast, downloadable for members of the Support Forum or the other support programs offered here. It’s a big experiment this autumn, so please let us know what you think, and how we can make it better.

Radio has always been a love of mine, as has improvisational theater and comedy.  And most of all, I love to learn and to explore and to read and to listen.  Karly and I found that we have these things in common–along with a love for public speaking and teaching.  We discovered that we had many of the same authors and teachers in common–and we are excited to share them with you.

By day, I work as the Director of Employee and Organization Development at the University of Southern Maine.  This means that I design and implement professional development programming around communication, conflict resolution, customer service, and supervisory development.  I moonlight as an adjunct faculty member working with freshman to help them figure out how to make better choices, adjust to changes, and anticipage a career. (Hint: it’s never done, never settled, not something you figure out when you’re “older.”)  The job is very rewarding–capitalizing on people’s strengths and encouraging them to their best selves–how cool is that?

When I’m not at work, I do some outside coaching and public speaking, I write (have been working for years on biography of my grandmother, First Lady Frances Cleveland), and I try to swim as often as I can.  And at home are my two fabulous sons–one in college and one about to graduate–yikes!  And lately I’ve been spending more time on First Ourselves, and I am loving it!  Check out this radio-style show and the Support Forums.

And check out this illustration that Kelsey created for me as part of my coming on board with Firstourselves.com. I’m not sure what Patrick — Karly’s website mastermind — is going to do with it, but he’s arranged it and so here it is.
Totally fun!

So please join us–come say hi in the Support Forums and listen in and bring us your thoughts, questions, and ideas.  See you in the Forum!
